June 2018 –
Thank you to every member of the Watterson Trail church of Christ who came out
for our 100% Attendance Day last Sunday (June 3rd). We had a very good crowd of family and
friends (117) gathered together to honor God and show Him our love and gratitude
in study, fellowship, and worship. 100%
is just a goal to reach out to. Of
course we all understand that some members are sick or caring for those who are
sick. Some are homebound. Some are traveling for work, a holiday, or
some other reason. Some have to work
(police officers, security, nurses, doctors, fire department, etc.). And of
course, a few others just need our love, patience, and prayers to God for them. Jesus Himself said, “For where two or three
are gathered in My name, there am I among them” (Matthew 18:20 ESV).
I hope you
are enjoying our Sunday Morning Series, “Six Benefits of Faith in God.” Faith in God determines what God can do in my life. Now before anyone gets “up in the air” about
such a statement. I am not at all trying
to limit God. He is Sovereign. Look at what Isaiah wrote about the
relationship between God and those who would ask for His help in Isaiah
59:1-2. God can. However, if our prayers seem fruitless and
our lives helpless what could be the problem?
Well, Isaiah writes about God’s decision to withhold His ear and His
arm. Why? Isaiah told those of old; “But your iniquities
have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you
so that HE WILL NOT HEAR.” Faith in God
can solve impossible problems. Jesus
told His disciples in Matthew 17:20 that if they would have faith; “nothing
shall be impossible to you.”
This Sunday
(10th) we’ll focus our attention on benefit #3 and the fact that our
“Faith in God is the Key to Answered Prayer.”
And then on Sunday afternoon we’ll continue in our series on the
B-Attitudes and focus on the pure in heart.
Jesus said, “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.” Don’t you want to see God one day? I certainly do. Well, then, we need to be pure in heart. Are you clean and free from impurities and
contaminates in your life? What about
how you see things? Do you look for the
good in the world? Of course we can only
be pure and remain pure in Christ Jesus.
GOING STRONG: Our Tuesday Summer Series “The Greatest
Questions – The Greatest Answers – The Greatest Book” got off to a great
beginning last Tuesday with Brother Dean Beard.
Brother Luke Ashby from the New Harmony congregation is up next
(Tuesday, June 12th – 7:00 p.m.) with the question; “Will a Man Rob
God?” Remember, we will not meet on
Wednesday evening during June, July, and August. Come and grow your faith ever stronger every
Tuesday in the summer.
