What a wonderful week to be a Christian in the country in Enola, Arkansas! It was a great joy this past Monday evening to see two of our teens confess that Jesus is the Son of God and be baptized into Christ; brothers…twins…Jacob Berry and Jackson Berry. We are so very proud of you. Thank you for your example of faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Another member of our youth group, a faithful young Christian man, Trevor Martin stood before the church on Wednesday evening to extend the invitation of Christ to us after a wonderful period of singing praises to our Lord. Brother Brandon Breeding is doing an outstanding job with our youth group helping them to stay focused on the things that are most important in life, faith, family, and friends.

Have you visited our website lately? You’ll find it when you “Google” the church at www.enolachurchofchrist.com. Check out the calendar of events and activities and see where you can get involved for God, for yourself, for the church, and for yourself. Remember our monthly Birthday and Anniversary Get-Together at the Burleson’s immediately following our evening service this Sunday, January 29th. If you or a member of your immediate family has a birthday or anniversary in January, please come by for some food and fellowship. If you would like to bring your favorite finger-food snack, please do. Cindi and I will provide the cake, drinks, a pizza, and the utensils. We always have a great time together.

Our lesson series on Sunday morning continues tomorrow, January 29th with Step 4 of “Seven Steps Out of a Rut.” Bartimaeus accepted responsibility for his life. He believed he could change. He clarified his needs. HE STOPPED WORRYING ABOUT PEOPLE. Too many people worry too much about what people will think, say, or do concerning their decision to become a Christian or be a Christian. Bartimaeus did not allow the people around him to deter him from his goal to get to Jesus for healing and salvation.

On Sunday evening we will examine “The Worst Thing in the World – SIN.” Our text once again will be Ephesians 2:1-10. Let us remember that becoming a Christian and living the Christian life is truly the greatest thing in all the world. God is greater than any and every sin now and forever.

Can you believe that January is almost history? How are you doing on your resolutions - you know those promises you made to God, to your family and friends, and to yourself? Come on. You can be stronger, better, closer, and more faithful in your Christian life. The church of Christ at Enola can help you in your mission to heaven. We need you. We love you. We want you. We meet together every Sunday for worship and fellowship at 10:00, 11:00, and 5:00. We meet on Wednesday evening at 7:00.

We had a great Sunday (January 15) here in the country, a little bit of heaven in Enola, Arkansas. We had a good crowd. Brother Palmer did an outstanding job leading our singing. We had several guests among us. Everyone stayed around quite a while visiting with one another after services were over. Several of our sick members were better. We enjoyed a great morning and evening of worship together in spirit and truth. God blessed us.

Our elders handed out a “Member Profile Sheet” along with a “Service Sheet” to every member. We have been asked to fill out each sheet and place them in the container in the lobby. The information will us to be more organized in our service to Christ, to one another, and to others. Please check as many items on the service sheet that you feel you would like to participate in. Challenge yourself. God will provide.

Our Sunday morning sermon series “Seven Steps Out of a Rut” continued this week with step #2 – Believe You Can Change. The blind man in Mark 10 could have made excuses. He didn’t. He could have played the blame game. He didn’t. He could have allowed fear to keep him from Jesus. He didn’t. He could have allowed his past to determine his future. He didn’t. He accepted personal responsibility for his life. He believed that he could change. Faith gives us access to the Father. Faith gives us the right to become a Christian. Faith pleases God. Faith is the foundation for our prayers to God. Faith is the substance of our hope and the evidence of we do not yet see. The blind man believed that through Jesus Christ he could be healed. His faith made him well, just like the Bible says. Next Sunday morning we will take a look at Step # 3 as we make the move to get out and stay out of a rut.

Sunday night at Enola! What a wonderful time together. If you are not attending on Sunday evening you are missing out. We are looking at life from differing perspectives. This evening we looked at “The Greatest Thing in the World – The Christian Life.” I believe that the Christian life is the greatest because only in Christ can we have spiritual health. Only in Christ can we have true happiness. Only Christ can we have heaven. Next Sunday evening we will focus on the worst thing in the world – sin. I hope you can make it back at 5:00 on Sunday evening. And hey! We have a very special program for our children and teens on Sunday night too.

Make sure you take a look at our website – www.enolachurchofchrist.com to stay up to date on what’s going on at Enola. We are slowly surely getting our website in order. This week we posted some valuable information about who we are at Enola. Check it out. Check out the calendar of events and get involved with your fellow Christians at Enola. This week on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. we will have our monthly Men’s Fellowship at the home of Greg Floyd’s in Vilonia. May God bless us all as we continue to work and worship together under that banner of the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Happy New Year 2012! What a wonderful holiday season we have enjoyed with family, friends, and fellow Christians celebrating the closing of 2011 and the beginning of a brand new year full of opportunities and challenges. Every moment can be a time of renewal for every Christian.

Please consider the following poem written by Nixon Waterman and think about these thoughts as we press on into 2012. This poem was sent from the CEO of the company my wife works for and offers a great new perspective to business and to Christian living.

What Have We Done Today?
By Nixon Waterman

We shall do much in the years to come,
But what have we done today?
We shall give our gold in princely sum,
But what did we give today?
We shall lift the heart and dry the tear,
We shall plant a hope in place of fear,
We shall speak the words of love and cheer,
But what did we speak today?

We shall be so kind in the after-while,
But what have we been today?
We shall bring to each lonely life a smile,
But what have we brought today?
We shall give to truth a grander birth,
And to steadfast faith a deeper worth,
We shall feed the hungering souls of earth,
But whom have we fed today?

We shall reap such joys in the by and by,
But what have we sown today?
We shall build us mansions in the sky,
But what have we built today?
‘Tis sweet in the idle dreams to bask;
But here and now, do we our task?
Yet this is the thing our souls must ask,
What have we done today?

This Sunday morning we will continues in our series entitled, “Seven Steps Out of a Rut” with Step #1 – Take Responsibility for Your Life. Our text is Mark 10:46-52. Bartimaeus is teaching us how to get out of the rut we’re in. This blind man could have make excuses. He could have played the blame-game. He could have allowed fear to keep him from his goal. He could have allowed his past to determine his future. He didn’t. Let us sit at the feet of this man and allow him to teach us how to get from where we are to where we want to be, to where we need to be in our lives.

On Sunday evening we are looking at 2012 with an open mind for renewal. We are already one week into this new year. What shall we do? We will look to God’s word for guidance as to how to answer this very important question. “We can…We should…We must…”

God has blessed us. He is blessing us. He will bless in the days ahead. May we always trust Him and obey Him. It is a wonderful pleasure and privilege to be your minister, to be a member of the Enola Church of Christ.
